07/04 SE Bench

Bench Press 135x5, 185x3, 225x3, 280x4x5
KB Ext 58x8,6
DB Ext 45x3x8
One Arm Cable Row 55x2x(8x8)
Rear Delt Raise 25x2x(8x8)

Everything felt good until the KB Ext where i started getting elbow pain on the second set and swapped to DB's. The Bench was pretty easy, i held back from doing another set to stay within SE parameters. Like i said, the KB ext's brought a bit of pain on the second set so i swapped. I think in the future i will go with a lighter weight and higher reps, its an awkward movement to begin with so im not quite sure what i was thinking. The Cable rows and Delts were done in a different fashion than i normally do, basically after a set with my right side i go immediately into the left side and back to the right with no rest between, by the end of these i was sucking wind pretty good. All in all i felt pretty good after this one, after some ice and Aleve the elbow pain is gone so that is good, just gotta use my noggin next time....anyway, thats all folks, tune in next time for DE Squat with a DL opener...........l8r

Nice site...first time I have visited it....your workouts seem to be going well heading toward your meet...you probably have it on here...but what fed do you lift in?

Hey Tig, thanks for stopping by, i am going to lift in the APA and the RAW federation for now. They both seem to have the most meets in the new england area. I dont really have a preference starting out and never having lifted in a sanctioned meet i will take what i can get. When i was in the military years ago we would have little meets, just gym folks, high squats, and questionable benches.... Looking forward to getting into it for real though...

Good luck with your meet. What are your openers? If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Hey Mike, my openers as they stand right now are 330 on the Bench, may actually lower that just to be safe, then 350-365, then give it hell on the last attempt. The Deadlift will be 410 1st, 460 2nd then 510-525 for the third, not wuite what i had projected a few months ago but i will be happy with these....do those sound like decent jumps?

again....only you know what you can do....IMO you are taking some big jumps...but if you can handle them that is great....It is very important to knock out that first attempt in all 3 lifts...which it sounds like you will...but you also don't want to take a crazy jump and kill you chance of being able to get your 2nd or 3rd attempt....it is tough to decide which way to go....

I see where your coming from Tig, at this point i guess its still speculation, i just want to make sure i get my opener then go from there. I do these jumps in training but as we all know training numbers dont always translate to meet numbers. Some people do more, some do less, im hoping i fall into the first category....who knows, either way it'll be fun.......
